It should be noted that Tenerife is a very steep island and most walks contain some periods of uphill walking. The terrain is often rough and rocky underfoot and you will be in mountainous terrain for long periods. Please read the general description of the walk you are interested in to see if you think it would suit your abilities. There are also details of distance, time & ascent/descent to help you. Pay particular attention to the ascent/descent information as this can be vital to the enjoyment of the walk. Times given are based on average fitness and assume a certain amount of hillwalking experience, break times are not included. If in doubt, choose a route that you know is well within your capabilities rather than one that stretches you beyond your comfort zone.  I recommend the following equipment for each walk - comfortable walking boots or shoes, lightweight anorak, lightweight fleece, sunhat & cream, at least 1.5 litres water/drink, picnic, first-aid kit.

The walking 'season' in Tenerife is normally October to April as the summer months can get very hot. I will consider putting on walks during the summer season but there will need to be at least two walkers in your party, it is unlikely that there will be a walk already subscribed to by other walkers that you will be able to join during this period.
