Barranco De Las Vegas

This walk is not too difficult and although the first hour is all uphill on an at times very stony path, it is a short route. Starting from the sleepy hamlet of Las Vegas, it follows stony tracks and paths into the Barranco de Las Vegas. The countryside is extremely peaceful and the only sounds you are likely to hear will be the cry of buzzards wheeling high above the barranco and the sound of your own breath as you puff and pant up the hills. The barranco itself is scenically impressive and on clear days the views are superb with excellent views to Guajara, the coast, Gran Canaria and into the barranco itself. As this is a fairly short route, you can take your time just enjoying the peace and solitude of the walk.   Circular Route - 6.5k  2.5 hours Only 2 euros

 Montaña Colorada

Starting from the village of Cruz de Tea this is a walk of two halves, the first being a long, steep climb to the summit of the red volcanic cone of Montaña Colorada, which  is not visible from the start of the climb on the TF-21 but is slowly revealed as the walk progresses. The second half of the walk is an easy downhill stroll through terraced orchards and along a remote country road back to Cruz de Tea. Initially steep, as the route leaves the road on a sometimes tricky path of loose red soil and stones below Montana Rica, the walk then enters pines and on a clear day there are superb views to Gran Canaria and the south coastal plain. As the summit comes more clearly into view, spectacular views of the high mountains and the mountain village of Vilaflor are revealed. Circular Route - 8.5k 3.5 hours. Only 2 euros

 The Deserted Village

This is a walk full of interest passing through three villages and three impressive barrancos. The near deserted village of Las Fuentes is a stark reminder of the huge changes that have occurred in Tenerife over the last few decades, particularly in the south of the island. The village is a remote and decaying relic from a bygone era; the upper part is made up of mostly derelict remains of traditional Canarian houses, cut off by a lack of access and a move away from traditional lifestyles. Some houses in the lower part of the village are still intact and apparently inhabited but the atmosphere is one of melancholy and decline. Of the three barrancos crossed, the most impressive is the Barranco de Erques but the Barrancos de Guaria and del Pozo are also very attractive examples. Linear Route - 9.5k  3 hours 45 mins Only 2 euros

ZyWeb

Vilaflor Circular - Vilaflor, is a beautiful, traditional Canarian village and this route starts from the pretty square in the centre of the village before heading out into the Ifonché region. The initial part of the walk is a pleasant walk through pine forests and vineyards, before these are left behind as the route climbs steeply through remote hills back to Vilaflor on the GR131 European route. Circular Route - 12k   4 hours

ZyWeb

Ifonche Circular - Remote walk in the Ifonche region with superb views of the surrounding mountains, pine forests and coast. The walk eventually follows the GR131 European route back into the village of Ifonche alongside the impressive Barranco Del Rey.                      Circular route - 9.5k  3hours 30 mins. (linear alternative 4.5 hours)

Roque De Jama

Roqué de Jama, at 760 metres above sea level, looms over Valle San Lorenzo like some huge prehistoric monster. Visible from the southern resorts, this walk is an excellent mountain excursion that can be fitted into a half-day as an antidote for those desperate to escape the sun, sea and sangria of the coast for a short spell. The walk leaves the high street in Valle San Lorenzo and initially follows steep, rural roads before leaving the tarmac for the climb to the summitThe going up to the summit is often very steep and tricky and the path difficult to find. The exposure on the summit will not suit vertigo sufferers. Circular Route -  6k   2hours 40 mins Only 2 euros

Roque Del Conde

Roque Del Conde is the most prominent mountain visible from the southern resorts. This impressive table-topped peak looks formidable from the coast but as the walk begins in Arona, more than half of the climbing is done before you start walking. One of the features of the walk is how quickly the holiday resorts of the coast are left behind for a much more traditional Tenerife and as you walk towards the imposing summit through the tiny hamlet of Vento, it is as though you have been transported to a different island.  The walk is steep and rough on rocky mountain paths and will not suit those suffering from vertigo. For those with hill-walking experience this is an excellent half-day walk in superb scenery with fabulous views to the coast, the Teno Hills, Teide and the neighbouring summits. Linear Route - 6.5k  3hours  Only 2 euros
