Santiago Del Teide

T   his walk explores both sides of the valley between the western towns of Santiago Del Teide and Tamaimo and gives excellent views as well as exploring typical Canarian towns and villages. The route initially follows a ridge to Roque del Paso from where there are terrific views to the neighbouring islands of La Gomera and La Palma. From here, the route drops down into the town of Tamaimo, which is followed by a very steep and tricky ascent to the village of Arguayo. From the village, a ridge on the eastern side of the valley is gained where there are excellent views across the valley to the route followed earlier in the walk before dropping down back into Santiago del Teide. The paths are mostly good with the exception of the path from Tamaimo to Arguayo, which is covered in loose volcanic rock making for a tiring and at times, tedious ascent. However, this is more than made up for by the superb views to the western side of the valley and the route covered in the earlier part of the walk.

  • Distance: 9 Miles
