his route is an excellent introduction to the National Park as it is a very straightforward walk along a single track at the base of the caldera wall. As there is little climbing involved and it is a very wide track it is a very simple walk but this does not mean that it is not interesting. On the contrary, there are fantastic views of Teide and the surrounding peaks and rock formations to be enjoyed as the route from El Portillo is followed to the Parador. The only problems you may encounter involve the strong sunshine and dust as you plod through this desert landscape.
