his walk is to the spectacular summit of Pico de la Mesa in the Teno Hills, near the quiet Canarian village Santiago del Teide, in the west of the island. If cloud cover permits, there are superb views inland to the peak of Teide. The walks follows quiet country lanes, forestry tracks and mountains paths before entering a beautiful laurel forest en-route to the Degollada de la Mesa pass. From here it is a short and at times, slightly vertiginous walk to the summit from where you will have dizzying views down to the village of Masca with the gorge and La Gomera beyond. After returning to the pass, the walk then descends back to Santiago del Teide.
