Hi Gary, Thank you for the photo and THANK YOU for the walks that you took us on when we were in Tenerife.  We thoroughly enjoyed the experience especially seeing parts of the island that we would never have seen on our own.  As we told you after we finished (me and Tracey) found it challenging in places but you were always very patient and encouraging letting us go at our own pace and not pushing us, and we had a real sense of achievement at the end of the walks.

We would be very happy to recommend you as a walkers guide and we feel that it is a good activity to do as a family group and something that we certainly enjoyed doing as a family. If we do go to Tenerife again we will definitely be in touch to arrange some more walks, maybe up to the top of the mountain next time.

Thank you again and we wish you lots of luck for the future.

Regards

Linda, Hans and Tracey

Gary,
Many thanks for a fantastic two days walking. We went on paths we would not have been able to explore on our own. Great scenery and we appreciated your knowledge of the island. Back next year.

Arona to Adeje -  20th January 2008

I visit Tenerife each year and stay in Los Christianos in the south of the Island. I do a fair amount of walking there and climb the popular and more accessible mountains. I've often been to Arona and climbed the nearby El Conde and to Adeje to scramble up the well-known and spectacular Barranco del Inferno. I'd suspected that there may have been a route over the mountains between the two villages but never had the confidence to try to find one. This year I decided to search the Internet for help. Luckily there was Cyberhiker and one of his guided walks was from Arona to Adeje.
The walk proved to be all I had hoped and more. At around 10am on a rather windy but sunny Sunday morning in January, we set off under the shadow of El Conde making for the col between the mountains of Roque de los Bresos and  Roque Imoque. This involved crossing the attractive Barranco del Rey and about an hour of fairly tough walking over a well-defined but rocky path. It was particularly motivating to be able to see early-on, Adeje in the distance, even though there were five or six hours of strenuous walking to be done before reaching our goal. The arrival at the col was especially rewarding for me because in addition to a well-deserved stop for rest and refreshment, it showed where I could gain access to de los Bresos and Imoque.  I'd always wanted to climb them and will do so on a future visit to Tenerife, now I know the way.  At the col, there were good views of Teide, the highest peak in Tenerife and its surrounding mountains and the surprising change in terrain that we were shortly to experience. This was much greener and more cultivated with access to small roads and after about half and hour we reached the hamlet of Ilfonche where there was a pub and refreshment if required.
Outside Ilfonche, there was yet another contrast as we entered a beautiful pine forest. Although we met more people on this section, there was a wonderfully calm atmosphere there. The track, covered in strongly scented pine needles, was lovely to walk on and was gently undulating, crossing several small barrancos on its way. In this two hour section, we suddenly gazed down on the most beautiful and awe-inspiring view of the day-the massive and spectacular gorge of Barranco del Inferno
The final hour involved a steep rocky descent but at the top, on a rocky ledge called Boca del Paso (mouth of the pass) we enjoyed an outlook that was the mirror image of one viewed in an early section of the walk. Here, not only could we see the final destination but also the mountains in the range around Arona, our starting point.
The walk took six hours, was well planned and led at a pace suitable for me. Overall I found it extremely enjoyable and excellent value for money. I heartily recommend Cyberhiker and his wide variety of guided walks

Dear Gary,
Arrived back to the grey skies again yesterday.  It was a pity about the weather but we still enjoyed the walk.   I am sure we will be back to the island fairly soon, so will check out your programme.

Hope all continues to go well.

Hi Gary

We're home now, done the shopping and the washing and it already feels like ages since we were in Tenerife.  Oh and by the way it's cold and raining at the moment!  Bet you don't feel too jealous.

Anyway we both really enjoyed the walks and will certainly be looking you up next year to do some more, so make sure you have some new challenges ready for us.  We'll probably be only there for a week, unless I can persuade John to do 2 weeks again so won't have time to do as many which would be a shame as it surprised us how nice the mountains were and how many treks and paths there were.  But you never know...

I'm going to have another look at your website and read about the walks we did as I didn't do this before, and if there's anywhere I can put some feedback on then I will.  But if not and you would like something then let me know and I'll put something together for you as all the walks were brilliant and you deserve to do well.

Keep safe and hopefully see you next year

Love

Hi Gary

Just a few lines to say what an excellent week of walking we had with you last week. The mixture of private and public walks was brilliant. It was great to have you drive us so far out so we could walk in areas we would not have been able to get to without hiring a car, which we did not want to do. I want to thank you for your patience and understanding. As you know, Derek had the terrible problems with his new walking boots, and I had a couple of little scare with vertigo on two of the walks. You made sure that both of us were OK and went at our pace which was appreciated. The beers at the end of some walks and the chats we had, as well as the spectacular scenery will be remembered! I have told my walking friends about you,and as I said we'll be back in Jan 09. We booked the apartment for wk commencing 27th Jan and I'm looking at flights.I think we'll walk the Weds,Fri, Sun and Monday if you can book us in!!! See you in Jan if not before.

All the best
