Am I fit enough? This is really a question that only you are able to decide. Study the notes for each walk carefully followed by the walk statistics. It is probably better to stick with routes that are slightly easier than you are used to if you are in any doubt. What happens if I cannot keep up with the pace? The pace of the walk will be determined by the slowest member of the group, so there is no need to worry about being left behind. However, careful consideration should be given to the above question before deciding on a route that suits your abilities and fitness levels. Please also be aware that walks in Tenerife often involve sustained periods of uphill walking over rugged mountain terrain. Please make sure that you have the necessary walking experience to cope with these conditions. Why do you only lead walks or eight or fewer walkers? This is purely a personal preference, I just enjoy walking with fewer walkers. Also, smaller groups are more manageable. Do you walk only during the winter months? No, as I am resident on the island I am able to walk at any time of the year. However, it is worth noting that the weather can get quite hot during the summer months although the climate in Tenerife rarely becomes 'unbearable'. Do you walk in all weathers? I do but I reserve the right to alter or postpone/cancel a trip in extreme conditions. Remember, Tenerife has a fantastic climate all year round so you would would be very unlucky to have a walk ruined by the weather. However, there are occasional storms that can be a problem at high altitudes. Do I have to choose from the routes in the directory? Not necessarily. If you have any alternatives you are interested in walking, just ask and I will do my best to accommodate you. Similarly, if you prefer, I will gladly devise an itinerary for you based on your requirements. What is the difference between Public & Private walks? Public Walks, as implied are open to anyone and are accessed by local bus. This means you could be joined by other walkers if others are booked for you chosen date/s. Private Walks are tailor-made trips for your party only and are accessed in your own air-conditioned transport. You will be picked up from your accommodation and driven to the walk start-point and returned to you accommodation after the walk. Can I walk in all areas of the island on the same holiday? Yes, but as I am based in the south of the island you will also need to be staying in the area for full island coverage on the same trip. However, if you are staying in other parts of the island this will only slightly limit your choice of walks. Please ask when sending your initial enquiry.
How do I book? First, check that the dates are available by filling in and sending the Enquiry form. Once I have confirmed your dates, complete and send the booking form. I will then send you details of how to pay and meet-up details for the walks. Can I book my flight and accommodation through you? No, I am not a travel agent, I am offering my services as a guide only. There are plenty of companies offering flights and accommodation on the internet to Tenerife making planning a holiday very easy. Check my links page for some useful sites. How much deposit do I have to pay? Normally 20%, with the balance due no later than 6 weeks before the start of the trip. However, for trips of just one or two walks, the whole amount may be payable in advance. I will advise when booking.
What if I cancel the trip? If you cancel a walk, I will refund your money to your Paypal account subject to the following deductions What if you cancel the walk? If I cancel any walks for whatever reason you will automatically be given a full refund
What equipment will I need? This is up to each individual but I would suggest the following as a minimum. |
