Coastal Walk

T his coastal walk explores Malpais de Rasca, a protected area between Palm-Mar and Las Galletas. Starting at the end of the promenade in Los Cristianos, the route climbs onto the Guaza plateau and soon finds peace and solitude away from the town. After a tricky descent down the cliffs into Palm-Mar, the route now follows the coastline all of the way into the harbour town of Las Galletas via the Faro de Rasca lighthouse. The barren landscape inland is softened somewhat by the impressive shoreline as the route picks it's way through the lava-fields to Las Galletas. A return route to Los Cristianos from the Faro de Rasca is possible making a circular route. It is also possible to extend the route all of the way to the tiny port of Los Abrigos. Fairly straightforward walking but often on broken, rocky shoreline paths. Also, a stiff ascent onto the Guaza plateau from Los Cristianos and a tricky descent on a path of loose scree at Palm-Mar.
