his walk is probably my personal favourite in the south as it passes through some of the most amazing and varied landscapes in this part of the island. In fact it is sometimes difficult to believe that you are only a short distance from the twin resorts of Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, so remote and spectacular is the terrain. The first section leaves Arona by road before beginning the steady climb through the mountains to the saddle between Roque de los Bresos and Roque Imoque. The route then passes through the agricultural area of Ifonche from where there are two possible routes back into Adeje, both involving long, rocky descents though spectacular scenery to the town where you can recover from your exertions in one of the many bars and restaurants before catching a bus back. Views throughout are superb but you must be prepared for a long day in the mountains with particularly long, rocky and at times tedious descents on both routes. Most of the route is on firm paths and tracks but the descents on both are on loose rock and scree.
